Live music had to take a backseat during Covid. But it’s back and better than ever. It’s true we still have to make some concessions; no dancing allowed, no singing along, no approaching the band for requests… but the sound is still bang on, and the beats are still there. Southend is proud to support live music in a covid-safe way, and trust you will be too.
We want to be very clear here. We are not an Irish bar. But we do serve the best Guinness in town, chips with curry sauce, and Taytos. And now we have Irish Trad Sessions on Wednesday nights. Trad sessions are a musos wet dream. A bunch of skilled artisans, peddling their musical wares in exchange for a couple of beers and the chance to jam. For those of you without two spoons to clap together, what you have is a musical experience that’ll have you tapping your toes and wishing you could play the fiddle. Grab your mates and come for dinner. Or grab your whistle and come and play! (Musicians, please call before coming up… group numbers are limited to 10 due to Covid and we’d hate for you to be disappointed)
Playing every Sunday in September; Harley’s one of those guys that leaks coolness from his pores. He sinks into each song like it’s the comfy porch couch at your mates place after a BBQ. He Loops like Sheeran, Sings like Marley, and plays all your favourites. Get in early to secure your seat. Sorry – no dancing allowed due to Covid.
A guitar, a whistle, a mandolin, a flute and a harmonica… these guys have been livening up the Rocks for years. But who wants to trek into the city these days? So many people. So little parking. Seriously, though: these guys make it their life’s mission to liven up the party. Please restrain yourselves from singing along, though…. group singing is OFF the schedule due to Covid.
The sound is cool, blues, funky and guaranteed to improve your day! Think Steely Dan, Clapton, Muddy Waters… you get the picture. Just what you need to wind down your weekend.
